The Fantastic Four have a rocky film history. Roger Corman’s 1994 film was made to keep the rights and was never officially released. Fox’s two films in 2005 and 2007 were light family adventures, with Chris Evans as Johnny Storm years before he played Captain America. Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot was troubled from start to finish and flopped.
Marvel Studios finally brought the team home with The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25, 2025), set in a retro-futurist 1960s on a separate Earth. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach all return in Avengers: Doomsday, which is also where Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom takes center stage.
