About Big Hero 6

Hiro Hamada is a 14-year-old robotics genius in San Fransokyo, a mash-up of San Francisco and Tokyo, wasting his talent on illegal robot fights. His older brother Tadashi shows him the city's university lab and Baymax, a soft, inflatable healthcare robot Tadashi built. When tragedy strikes, Hiro sets out to find the masked villain Yokai, who's responsible. He upgrades Baymax for combat and turns Tadashi's friends Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred into a superhero team.

Walt Disney Animation Studios made the film, directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams and produced by Roy Conli. Ryan Potter voices Hiro and Scott Adsit voices Baymax, with Daniel Henney, T.J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Genesis Rodriguez, James Cromwell, Maya Rudolph and Alan Tudyk. It opened in the US on November 7, 2014, earned about $657.8 million worldwide, making it 2014's highest-grossing animated film, and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

How to watch it

Big Hero 6 is set in its own world, separate from the MCU, so it doesn't fit anywhere in an MCU watch order. It's a great pick for families and anyone new to Marvel. Stay for the post-credits scene. If you love it, follow it with Big Hero 6: The Series, which continues the story with most of the cast, and the Disney+ shorts Baymax! The theatrical release also came with the short Feast.
