About X-Men (Untitled MCU Film)
This untitled film is Marvel Studios' reboot of the X-Men, intended to formally introduce the team to the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Kevin Feige confirmed in 2025 that it would feature a new cast rather than the Fox-era actors, and he called it "a very youth-oriented" movie. It's described as the first installment of a new saga for the franchise. As of October 2026, no plot details have been confirmed.
Jake Schreier is directing after his work on Thunderbolts*. Michael Lesslie wrote an early script, and Joanna Calo and Lee Sung Jin, Schreier's Thunderbolts* collaborators, are writing a new draft. Casting was announced over the summer of 2026. Kit Connor plays Scott Summers / Cyclops, Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey and Samara Weaving plays Emma Frost. Christopher Abbott is Professor X, Inde Navarrette is Rogue and Maya Boyd is Storm. Adam Driver plays Mister Sinister. It's set for May 5, 2028, as the start of Phase Seven.
Good to know
- Adam Driver was announced as Mister Sinister at the 2026 D23 Expo, along with Abbott, Navarrette and Boyd.
- Schreier became Marvel's top choice to direct after Thunderbolts* was well received in May 2025.
- Sadie Sink is also expected to play Jean Grey in Avengers: Secret Wars.
- Early development was underway by late 2023, once the Hollywood strikes of that year had ended.
How to watch it
Plan to watch Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) first, since this film is meant to follow it and launch the X-Men in the MCU. Thunderbolts* gives you a sense of what Schreier, Calo and Lee bring. If you want to catch up on mutants in the meantime, Deadpool & Wolverine and X-Men '97 are good options. You don't need the Fox films, because this is a fresh start. Plot details are still under wraps, so expect this page to change.
