Shuri Watch Order: Every MCU Appearance
The 4 titles below run in story order, starting with Black Panther and, for now, ending with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Shuri is Wakanda’s genius princess, and her story runs from Black Panther to Doomsday.
Set aside about 10h 25m for the full list, which came out from 2018 to 2022. Avengers: Doomsday is next.
Who is Shuri?
Shuri is a recent addition by Marvel standards. Reginald Hudlin and John Romita Jr. introduced her in Black Panther #2, cover dated May 2005, as the daughter of T'Chaka and T'Challa's younger sister. Her defining comics moment came in 2009: with T'Challa gravely wounded, Shuri was tested, ate the heart-shaped herb and claimed the Black Panther mantle in Black Panther #1. She proved a capable warrior and a level-headed leader, and she was later killed during the Time Runs Out storyline before being restored.
Letitia Wright plays her, beginning with Black Panther in 2018. That Shuri is sixteen, runs Wakanda's labs and builds most of the gear her brother fights in, and she is right in the thick of the film's final battle. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022 moves her to the center, as she deals with grief for T'Challa and a new threat from the underwater kingdom of Talokan.
Letitia Wright is confirmed to return as Shuri in Avengers: Doomsday, due on December 18, 2026.
Spoiler Spoilers for Shuri’s story: tap to reveal
- Wakanda Forever also takes her mother, Ramonda, and that second loss turns Shuri from the person who makes the suit into the person wearing it.
- By the end of the film she has recreated the heart-shaped herb using a remnant tied to Namor's people, taken it herself and been accepted as the Black Panther by the other tribes. She plants more of the herb so the mantle outlasts her.
- She gives up her claim on the throne and leaves to visit Nakia in Haiti, where she burns her funeral robe. She is credited as Shuri and Black Panther in Avengers: Doomsday.
