Vision Watch Order: Every MCU Appearance
To watch Vision in order, start with Avengers: Age of Ultron and follow the 5 titles below in story order, ending (for now) with VisionQuest: Season 1. Vision is created in Age of Ultron, and his story continues all the way to VisionQuest.
The releases run from 2015 to 2026. That works out to 3 films and 2 series seasons, about 20h 2m of viewing in all.
Who is Vision?
The Vision was created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema and first appeared in The Avengers #57, cover dated October 1968. In the comics Ultron builds him as a weapon against the Avengers, using brain patterns taken from Wonder Man, and he turns on his maker instead. He went on to become one of the team's longest-serving members and married the Scarlet Witch, a romance Steve Englehart built up through the 1970s and into the 1985 Vision and the Scarlet Witch maxiseries, making them one of Marvel's strangest and most loved couples. Tom King's 2015 series The Vision, about an android trying to raise a suburban family, is the run most fans point to now.
Paul Bettany was in the MCU long before he wore the cape: he voiced Tony Stark's AI J.A.R.V.I.S. from Iron Man (2008) on. In Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) J.A.R.V.I.S., the body Ultron built and the Mind Stone combine to create the Vision, who proves himself by lifting Mjolnir. Captain America: Civil War (2016) puts him on Tony's side and deepens his bond with Wanda Maximoff, and Avengers: Infinity War (2018) makes the Mind Stone in his forehead one of Thanos's targets.
WandaVision (2021) picks up his story in a very strange way, inside a sitcom version of Westview built around Wanda. It sets up VisionQuest, the eight-episode Disney+ series that premiered October 13, 2026, with James Spader returning as Ultron, now living inside Vision's mind, and a bounty hunter called Paladin on his trail. Bettany is not in the announced cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
Spoiler Spoilers for Vision’s story: tap to reveal
- Infinity War ends with Thanos tearing the Mind Stone from Vision's head, killing him, and Endgame does not bring him back.
- In WandaVision, the Vision living in Westview is a creation of Wanda's grief and magic, while S.W.O.R.D. reassembles the original body and reactivates it as a colorless White Vision. In the finale the Westview Vision restores the other's memories, and the White Vision flies off. That White Vision is the lead of VisionQuest.
