Young Avengers Explained

Updated

Marvel hasn’t announced a Young Avengers project yet, but the team is assembling in plain sight. Across Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, The Marvels and Agatha All Along, the next generation has been introduced one by one. Here's who's on screen already, who's teased, and what's still rumor.

The clearest setup: the end of The Marvels

The Marvels (2023) ends with the most explicit Young Avengers setup in the MCU so far: a founder actively recruiting, on camera.

In the closing scene, just before the credits, Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) visits Kate Bishop, the Hawkeye protégé from the Hawkeye series, and pitches her on forming a team of young heroes. Kamala even name-drops Ant-Man's daughter Cassie Lang as a prospect.

Wiccan: the magical heavyweight

Agatha All Along (2024) introduced a mysterious teenager whose identity is the show's central puzzle, and by the finale the name Wiccan is in play. In the comics, Wiccan is a core Young Avenger and one of Marvel's most powerful magic users.

The teenager is Billy Maximoff, Wanda's son, reborn into a new body, and he takes the name Wiccan by the finale. His twin brother Tommy (Speed) has been teased but not yet reintroduced as a hero.

The other candidates

The comics blueprint

The Young Avengers debuted in comics in 2005 (Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung): a team of teenage heroes inspired by the Avengers, including Patriot (Eli Bradley), Hulkling, Wiccan, Speed, Kate Bishop (who becomes Hawkeye), and Stature (Cassie Lang). The MCU has now introduced most of these characters individually, which is exactly why fans are confident the team-up is coming, even without an official announcement.

What Marvel has (and hasn't) announced

Confirmed fact: as of October 2026, Marvel Studios has not announced a Young Avengers or Champions film or series. So anything about the team actually forming is our read, not news. Still, the pieces look too deliberately placed to be an accident, and the likeliest venue is the Multiverse Saga's climax or the Mutant Saga that follows.
