About Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 6
Season 6 jumps forward a year. With Coulson gone, Mack is now director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the team is split in two: one group investigates mysterious energy anomalies on Earth while another searches deep space for Fitz. The anomalies lead to Sarge, a ruthless leader with a small crew and Clark Gregg's face, whose plans depend on alien monoliths. The Shrike, crystalline parasites that destroy whole worlds, are part of the danger. A second villain, Izel, can possess other people's bodies. Scenes at the end of episodes also set up the Chronicoms as the threat to come.
ABC aired 13 episodes from May 10 to August 2, 2019, under Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen and Jeffrey Bell. ABC ordered a seventh and final season while the writers were still working on this one, so the two were planned as one larger story. Clark Gregg plays Sarge and directed the premiere, and Jeff Ward was promoted to series regular. Critics credited the shorter season with tighter pacing and a lighter tone, and it holds 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Watch season 5 first, since this follows its ending. Don't try to line it up with Avengers: Endgame; the producers went their own way, and the season doesn't acknowledge the Blip. Treat seasons 6 and 7 as one long story and watch them back to back. The split-team format means both halves pay off late, so stick with it past the first few episodes.
