Why it’s worth knowing about
Widely considered the best Avengers cartoon and close to the comics.
About The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
Earth's Mightiest Heroes begins with a massive breakout from four supervillain prisons at once. Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man and Wasp end up fighting side by side and form the Avengers, soon joined by Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Panther. Unlike most Marvel cartoons, the story builds across episodes and draws on decades of comics. Season 2 adds Ms. Marvel and Vision and brings in Doctor Doom, the Red Skull, the Kree, a Skrull invasion and Galactus.
Marvel Animation and Film Roman made the show for Disney XD, where it premiered on October 20, 2010, and ran two seasons of 26 episodes each, ending in November 2012. Christopher Yost was the head writer and a developer alongside Ciro Nieli and Joshua Fine. The voice cast includes Eric Loomis as Iron Man, Brian Bloom as Captain America, Fred Tatasciore as Hulk, Rick D. Wasserman as Thor, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Wasp and Wally Wingert as Hank Pym. Critics liked it, and it often ranks as the best Avengers cartoon.

How to watch it
This is its own continuity, so watch it whenever you like, though it's especially fun after the Phase One MCU films. Start with the micro-episodes or the opening "Breakout" two-parter. The Kang episodes in season 1 and the Skrull invasion in season 2 are the arcs to watch. Comics fans will appreciate how faithfully it handles classic Avengers stories. Expect the second half of season 2 to feel rushed because of behind-the-scenes changes.
