About Marvel Anime: Blade

Blade is the last of the four Marvel Anime series. Eric Brooks, the half-human, half-vampire "daywalker," arrives in Japan on the trail of Deacon Frost, the vampire who attacked his mother, Tara Brooks, while she was pregnant. Along the way he also crosses paths with a mysterious vampire organization called Existence.

Madhouse produced it with Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan, with Mitsuyuki Masuhara directing and Kenta Fukasaku writing. It ran 12 episodes on Animax from July to September 2011 before airing in the US on G4. Akio Ohtsuka voices Blade in Japanese, and Harold Perrineau voices him in the English dub, with JB Blanc as Deacon Frost and Troy Baker as Noah van Helsing.

Good to know

How to watch it

Blade is the final Marvel Anime series, so it lands best after Iron Man, Wolverine and X-Men, especially Wolverine, since Kikyo Mikage and Logan both come back. It still works as a standalone if you only want Blade. Episode 7 is the Wolverine crossover. Fans of dark action anime and of Blade himself will like it, especially if you're waiting on the character's MCU debut.
