Marvel in 2022
In 2022, reviews of MCU films became more mixed. Sam Raimi returned to superhero filmmaking in May with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which earned $955.8 million. Thor: Love and Thunder got mixed reviews in July. In November, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever honored Chadwick Boseman by not recasting T'Challa and won the Oscar for Costume Design.
On Disney+, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk premiered, along with the special Werewolf by Night. In July, Kevin Feige announced the name Multiverse Saga. Sony's Morbius had a bad year. It earned memes rather than audiences, and a June re-release made about $300,000.
